Islam examined

Is Islam a sexist religion? Does it promote terrorism? Why do some Muslims hate America?

Saleem Ahmed, whose book "Beyond Veil and Holy War: Islamic Teachings and Muslim Practices with Biblical Comparisons" is scheduled for release next month, will join a four-member panel tonight to discuss these questions and others. A short program of cultural dances will follow. The free event is sponsored by the University of Hawai'i ethnic studies program.

The two-hour panel discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Wo Center, Punahou School.

Lecture offered

The Palolo Bahai’ Center will present a lecture, "For God's Sake — Don't Fight Over Religion!", at the center, 2165 10th Ave.

The free lecture takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, A recent message from the Bah‡'’ governing body also will be discussed .
