Three from Kalihi charged in shooting

Three Kalihi men were charged last night in connection with a shooting last week on Booth Road, police said.

Allen M. Costa Jr., 23, of a Linapuni Street address, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, police said today.

Shawn Shelton, 31, and James H.D. Abalos, 23, were charged with conspiracy, police said.

The victim in the case, a 41-year-old man, was shot in the stomach and remains hospitalized.

Police say Costa allegedly entered the victim's Booth Road home at 10:20 p.m. on July 2, pointed a .38-caliber handgun at a visitor there and then burst into the victim's room and shot him.

All three men were arrested Sunday after police received a tip. Detectives were able to recover the weapon.

Wa'ianae man faces sex assault charges

A Wa'ianae man was charged with four counts of third-degree sexual assault yesterday, police said.

Gierald Miller Jr., 55, allegedly assaulted a 10-year-old boy between June 29 and 30, police said.

Miller was arrested Sunday and charged yesterday, police said. His bail was set at $20,000.

Woman's estranged spouse, friend fight

Police are considering assault charges after a fight broke out when a woman put her estranged husband and her new boyfriend in the same car.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. yesterday on the 85-200 block of McArthur Street in Wa'ianae. The woman picked up her 42-year-old estranged husband and then picked up her 41-year-old boyfriend at work.

The two men began to argue, police said.

The suspect then began to beat the victim with his fists and a pole. Police arrested the suspect.
