Kaua'i guitarist to perform at HPR's Atherton studio

Cindy Combs, a singer, composer and slack-key guitarist, will perform at 4 p.m. July 21 at the Hawaii Public Radio's Atherton Performing Arts Studio.

This will be a rare return visit for the Kaua'i resident, one of the state's premiere female ki ho'alu guitarists.

She performs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays at the Hanapepe Cafe on the Garden Island and is heard as "The 'Ukulele Lady" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays on KUAI-AM on Kaua'i.

Tickets: $15 for adults, $12.50 for HPR members, $10 for students.

Hawaii Ballet Theatre takes 'Momotaro' fable to stage

Hawaii Ballet Theatre will present "Momotaro & the Peach Girl," an original one-act ballet adapted from the classic Japanese fable about a baby found in a peach, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at Dillingham Theatre, Punahou School.

The production, conceived and choreographed by Charlys Ing, will be preceded by several other performances.

Tickets: $16 for adults, $12 for children, seniors and military dependents.
