St. Francis Healthcare Foundation is starting a new tradition by combining its two annual golf benefits Swing for Life and GolfWest into one on Aug. 29 at the 27-hole Hawai'i Prince Course.
It is called the Golf Healthy Challenge 2002, and it will utilize all three of Hawai'i Prince's nine-hole layouts.
The format calls for 96 three-person teams playing 18 holes in three different flights, using one and two bestball scores on designated par holes.
The entry fee is $450 per team and the deadline is Aug. 9.

Since the inception of the Swing-for-Life benefit in 1982 and GolfWest in 1989, the foundation has raised $950,000.
Golfer makes stop in Islands
Ben McFerron added Hawai'i to his fund-raising challenge of playing 50 golf courses in 50 states in 50 days with a round Tuesday at the Waialae Country Club.
He began his 50-50-50 Challenge June 26 by playing a round in Surgis, Mich., in the morning and South Bend, Ind., later that afternoon.
Sponsored locally by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, McFerron is raising money and awareness for chronic fatigue syndrome, which affects 800,000 Americans. He also suffers from that syndrome.
