2 held in Waikiki robbery, beatings

Police arrested two Honolulu men on suspicion of robbery and assault in Waikiki today.

The men, 18 and 20, were driving a truck on Hobron Lane around 2:25 a.m. when they allegedly stopped and threatened to shoot two men, in their early 20s, if the two men did not give them money.

The victims gave the men their money, but the driver of the truck got out and punched one of the victims, while the passenger hit the second victim with brass knuckles.

Police followed the suspects' truck to Kalihi. The men tried to flee on foot but they were caught and arrested.

Woman found alive in canal

A 37-year-old Kalihi woman was pulled out of the water by River and North King streets today after being mistaken for a dead body.

Central Station firefighters arrived at the canal across from 'A'ala Triangle Park at 6 a.m. after someone reported a body floating in the water, fire officials said.

When the rescue team got there, the woman was conscious and shivering.

The woman did not remember how she got into the water, officials said.

Nunchaku allegedly used in assault

A 23-year-old Nu'uanu man faces assault charges after allegedly hitting his 24-year-old neighbor last night with nunchaku, a weapon with two hardwood sticks joined at their ends with rawhide or a chain.

The two men were arguing about the suspect's dog outside the suspect's house on Pauoa Road around 9 p.m. when the suspect came out with the weapon and hit the other man on his nose.

Victim pulled from lagoon identified

A man who died Monday while snorkeling in one of the Ko Olina lagoons was identified as Cory Fujiki of San Jose, Calif., authorities said yesterday.

Fujiki, 45, was pulled from one of the lagoons near Ihilani Resort and Spa. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center-West where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Pair suspected of stealing auto

Police yesterday arrested two people on suspicion of auto theft and drug offenses after they were stopped for speeding Monday night in Kalihi.

Police said the car was stopped after it was clocked at 68 mph in a 35 mph zone at 11:55 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway in the Kalihi area.

A license check revealed that the car was stolen. Inside the car, police found a glass pipe with a white residue that appeared to be crystal methamphetamine, police said.

The driver, a 34-year-old Nu'uanu man, and his passenger, a 31-year-old Makiki woman, were arrested.

Four boys arrested in pellet-gun case

Four boys face kidnapping and assault charges after allegedly shooting a pellet gun at four other boys in Makakilo last week, seriously injuring one of them.

A 13-year-old was hit in the leg and required surgery, police said.

Police said the group had threatened the victim to keep silent about an assault that occurred July 5. Two days later, three of the boys allegedly took turns shooting a pellet gun at him.

On July 8, the group allegedly took turns shooting a pellet gun at three other boys. One was shot in the buttocks, another was shot in the head and a third boy was not hit.

Police arrested a 16-year-old, two 13-year-olds and a 10-year-old. They were released pending further investigation.
