Kono finishes fourth in Junior World golf

Honolulu's Stephanie Kono shot a 1-over-par 63 and finished fourth yesterday in the girls 11-12 division of the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego.
Kono had a three-day of 184, five strokes behind winner Sukintorn Saensradi of Thailand.
Joy Kim of Kea'au shot a 67 and finished 11th at 190.
Kimberly Kim of Pahoa shot a 1-under 57 to finish third at 170 in the girls 9-10 division, eight strokes behind winner Tanya Wadhwa of New Delhi.
In the boys 9-10, Honolulu's Bradley Shigezawa shot a 6-over 63 to drop from sixth to 18th with a 177 on the final day. Austin Cody of South Carolina shot a 54162 to win the division.

Wie trails by 18: Punahou student Michelle Wie shot a 3-over-par 74 and is 18 strokes behind overall leader Sung Ea Lee of Washington after yesterday's second round of the Westfield Junior PGA Championships in Ohio.
Hilo's Kristen Higa also shot a 74 and is at 154 after two rounds.
In the boys' division, Koa Furtado of Kailua (77) and Shaun Felechner of Lahaina (79) are at 156 and 19 strokes behind leader Tyler Aldridge of Idaho (137).
Miyajima leads Pua Melia: Shayna Miyajima shot a 68 yesterday to lead after the first round of the 26th Annual Pua Melia Invitational Women's Golf Tournament at the Olomana Golf Links.
Bev Kim was second after a 72.
DIVING
UH's Coyle qualifies: University of Hawai'i sophomore diver Jonathan Coyle qualified for the U.S. Senior Diving Championships in Dallas this weekend with a fourth-place finish this past weekend at the Senior Geographical Zone C meet in Dallas.
The top five finishers in the meet earned a spot on the national team. Jonathan Linette won the event with a score of 600.45. Coyle scored a 399.19.
SURFING
Dorian, Robb advance: Hawai'i surfers Shane Dorian and Kalani Robb advanced to the third round of the Billabong Pro yesterday in 4- to 5-foot waves at Jeffreys Bay, South Africa.
Dorian defeated New Zealand's Maz Quinn, 18.4-16.5, in yesterday's second round.
Robb posted one of the top scores of the second round in a 21.9-9.9 victory over Brazil's Marcelo Nunes.
Fellow Hawai'i surfers Andy Irons and Sunny Garcia advanced to the third round on Monday.
SUMO
Musashimaru falls to 10-3: Yokozuna Musashimaru (Fiamalu Penitani of Wai'anae) was nudged out by No. 8 maegashira Shimotori today to drop to 10-3 with two days left in the 15-day Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament in Nagoya, Japan.
Shimotori withstood the grand champion's charge, slipped behind Musashimaru and pushed him out to improve to 9-4.
Ozeki (champion) Chiyotaikai threw down Asashoryu to take sole possession of the lead at 12-1. Asashoryu fell to 11-2.
