Hundreds gathered to honor Betsill, 47, who was piloting his Cessna Cardinal 177 when it crashed in Nahiku. He is survived by his wife and four children.
A plane crash July 13 killed builder Steve Betsill and three others.
Three of Betsill's relatives also were killed in the crash. They were Betsill's cousin Jerry Betsill, 44, of Fort Worth, Texas, and the cousin's 11-year-old daughter, Emma, and 10-year-old niece Meredith Fenimore of Dallas.
Family members and friends remembered Steve Betsill as a man devoted to his family, church, community and business.
Betsill and three of his brothers co-owned Betsill Brothers Construction Inc. on Maui.
"He lived to love and loved to live, and reached out to others, ready to give," said his brother Dwayne.
Betsill's plane took off July 13 from Kahului Airport under good flight conditions with clear visibility.
It was headed toward the mountainous area of Hana when it last made radio contact, authorities said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
