Waipahu ATM users victim of robber

Police are seeking a man in his 20s as a suspect in the armed robbery of two women at a Waipahu ATM machine last night.

The victims, a 41-year-old driver and a 65-year-old passenger, told police they drove up to the machine, at 94-229 Waipahu Depot Road, at 10 p.m. The passenger got out and withdrew money from the machine, police said, and returned to the car, where the robber demanded money first from the driver and then from the passenger.

The robber then took the passenger's coin purse and fled.

He is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with a tan complexion and medium build. He carried a handgun and was wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt, black jeans and a black ski mask.

Two armed men escape with wallet

Two armed masked men entered a Wai'anae home through an unlocked back door late Saturday and robbed the man and woman who lived there.

The victims said that both men carried a rifle and that one demanded money while the other waited in the living room.

The men then fled with a wallet.

They both are described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall. The man demanding money is further described as weighing about 200 pounds, with brown, curly neck-length hair, brown eyes and a gray handkerchief over his face. He was shirtless and wore dark shorts. The second man weighed about 160 pounds and wore dark shorts.

Kane'ohe baby's death investigated

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 1-year-old Kane'ohe boy who was hospitalized last night after his mother reported him unresponsive.

Police were called to the Hui 'Iwa Road home after 7:30 p.m. after the 26-year-old mother had called the ambulance.

The baby was taken to the Castle Memorial Medical Center, where emergency room physicians pronounced him dead.

Salt Lake resident runs from robber

A woman reading a book in her Salt Lake living room looked up late Saturday night to see a man breaking in her front door, armed with a handgun. The man, described as being in his 30s, allegedly entered shortly after 11 p.m. and demanded money, but the victim got past him and fled out the door. He also fled before police arrived.

The woman, 42, told police that he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, had a slim build and wore a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and a green handkerchief over his face.
