• Retired VICE ADM. ROBERTH KIHUNE will succeed ED CARTER as chairman of the board of the USS Missouri Memorial Association. Kihune's successor as the association's president will be the memorial's chief operations officer, retired Navy Capt. Don Hess; Carter will continue his involvement as chairman emeritus. Kihune, who also serves as a Kamehemeha Schools trustee, is chief executive officer of Sandwich Isles Communications Inc.

The Missouri Memorial association has also added three members to its board: RUTH ANN BECKER, president of Becker Communications; RON HIGGINS, founder of Digital Island Inc.; and WILLIAM E. MATHESON, co-owner of William & Nina Matheson Books Inc.

BARBARA KAHANA, who served as director of information systems at Kuakini Health System for 23 years, has been named vice president and chief information officer at HAWAI'I HEALTH SYSTEMS CORP. She was most recently director of application services for HHSC, the state's benefit "safety-net" healthcare system.

DARREL HOKE has joined The Kamehameha Schools as director of internal audit at a time when most of the organization's internal audit functions are being taken in-house. Hoke was previously senior vice president of management reporting for Bank of Hawaii. Also joining the schools, as director of information technology, is JOSEPH FERREIRA JR., most recently senior director of information technology at Hawaiian Airlines.

CHRISTOPHER PAPE, who began with Atlantis Adventures in 1991 as a diver in Kona and worked his way up to maintenance technician, co-pilot and lead pilot, has been named operations and maintenance manager. He will be responsible for managing the offshore and maintenance teams, as well as quality of tours.

• Manoa Valley Theatre, marking its 33rd season, has welcomed three new members to its board of directors: PETER S. HO, executive vice president of Bank of Hawaii; city grant writer SANDY ROGIN; and community volunteer LORI THOMAS. Others on the board include Jack Bates, Kit Beuret, Sharon Billingsley, Brian A. Blevins, John Candon, Marcus Boland, Merilyn Gray, Al Hoffman, Keith Ito, Bill Lindemann, George Mason, Timothy E.D. Moulson, Jim Myers, Barbara Nickerson, Jeff Portnoy, Lyssa Reese, Mike Rosenberg, Ramona Sayre, Donn Takaki, Mark Taylor and Alice Tucker. Board officers are Scott Higashi, president; Janis Akuna, vice president; Neil Field, secretary; and John Maughan, treasurer.

• Bank of Hawaii has hired two senior vice presidents: JAMES F. HAWKINS, who also will be consumer lending division manager, and KATE PATTERSON, who also will be chief information security officer.

DANA MATLIN has joined Kaiser Permanente Hawai'i as labor relations consultant, responsible for negotiating and administering the three collective bargaining agreements for the health maintenance organization. Kaiser has 350 physicians and 4,000 employees, serving 228,000 members statewide, including 16 outpatient clinics on O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island. Matlin was previously human resources consultant with McDonald's Restaurants of Hawai'i Inc.

JON ETO, formerly a consultant with Oceanic, Time Warner Cable of Hawai'i, has been hired as business development manager. He will be responsible for upgrading commercial properties statewide for cable and Internet service.

• The Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Princess Ka'iulani hotels have named restaurant managers: DAVID LAU new manager of the Sheraton Moana Surfrider's reopened Ship's Tavern and previously manager for the Princess Ka'iulani Pikake Terrace; AUDREY KAMIYA, new manager of the Sheraton Moana Surfrider's Banyan Veranda and previously the Beachside Café manager; SHARI TACHIBANA, new manager of the Pikake Terrace, Lounge and room service and previously manager of the Sheraton Moana's beverage department; TED TERUYA, new manager of Momoyama Restaurant and previously manager of Princess Ka'iulani's Minute Chef; and JENNIE ALLEN, new manager of the Princess Food Court, which was formerly known as Minute Chef.

• Hawaiiana Management Co. Ltd., which offers residential property management to more than 300 condominium and community associations statewide, has added three more executives:

  • HARRY HARRIS, former facilities manager for such companies as Northrop Corp., Lloyds Bank and Disneyland. Harris, a general and electrical contractor, holds undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and construction management and a graduate degree in international management.
  • ROXANNE BOTELHO-YAMAMOTO, forner administrator for the 186-unit Wailana at Waikiki.
  • ALLAN DOHERTY, formerly property and leasing manager with Avalon Communities in California.

• Shell Management Hawai'i has promoted two of its resort managers on the Big Island. GARY MANO was named general manager of Paniolo Greens and The Greens at Waikoloa, supervising a staff of more than 100 resort professionals. He was previously executive housekeeper, rooms division manager and assistant general manager with Shell. Also CINTIA DUTRA was named assistant general manager of the Kona Coast Resort.

ROBYN MORIYAMA has been promoted to vice president/account service at AdWorks, overseeing all aspects of advertising and communications campaigns for clients such as AT&T Wireless, HawaiianMiles, MasterCard, Tyson Foods and Dole Plantation. She was formerly an AdWorks senior account executive.

DR. JACQUELINE UEDA has been named director of laser vision services in the clinical department of Laser Eye Center of Hawai'i, responsible for the initial examinations of all referrals from more than 100 affiliated doctors statewide.
