THE LEFT LANE
THISIT placetobe

Seventeen magazine merchandise editor Jamie Jaffe and the Seventeen style squad will be on hand when Macy's at Ala Moana Center launches its new 13,650-square-foot teen fashion department, THISIT (read it aloud slowly), with a fashion show at 1 p.m. July 27 on level two of the store.

The fashion show, with deejay, will feature local models and the style squad will search the crowd for teens who might appear in the magazine.

Clinique will share cosmetic trends, while stylists from Honolulu salons will demonstrate what's new for hair this fall.

The event is free.

On your knees, boys

"The Bachelor" runner-up Trista Rehn will get a second chance to find true love on television — and this time she gets to do the picking.

One of the women rejected by bachelor Alex Michel on ABC's reality dating show in the spring, Rehn will choose from among 25 men on "The Bachelorette," in a six-episode series scheduled to air in January.

New editions of "The Bachelor" will return next season as well, ABC executives said.

ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne was asked if a sexual double-standard might cause some to view "The Bachelorette" contestant as promiscuous.

"The show will force all of us to look at what these double standards are," Lyne replied.

No time for 'Stitch'

Jason Scott Lee, who was the voice of the surfer character David in the Disney animated hit "Lilo & Stitch," isn't riding the sequel wave in either the direct-to-video movie , "Stitch! — The Movie," nor the TV series, "Stitch! — The TV Series." Both are due in 2003.

Sources close to Lee, who owns a home on the Big Island, said he will be on tour, has the standard "other commitments," and will not be available next year for the continuing saga of Lilo and her alien pet.
