Teens to attend D.C. conference

Two St. Louis High School students have been recognized for their academic achievement.

  • Kellan Kubo of Honolulu has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference next Monday in Washington.
  • Fayez Rumi has been referred to be included in the 36th annual edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students, 2001-02, an honor reserved for only 5 percent of U.S. high school students.

Rumi has also been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference.

Other students from Hawai'i attending the National Young Leaders Conference will be Greg Kuwaye of Ka'a'awa and Rose Hacking of Honolulu.

"Those who participate in this program not only gain knowledge and experience in the nation's capital, they leave with a sense of accomplishment and an increased ability to face the challenges of the future," said Michael Lasday, executive director of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
