With Jim Donovan's impending departure, University of Hawai'i athletic director designate Herman Frazier said he plans to add "at least two" senior staff members to the department.
Frazier said staff reorganization will be one of his priorities when he takes over Aug. 1. He is on the Mainland now, winding up personal business and completing the transition at his former school, Alabama-Birmingham.
Donovan, associate athletic director the past six yearst, announced Saturday he will leave UH in September to become the first executive director of the Christmas Day ConAgra Hawai'i Bowl.
At UAB, Frazier oversaw a $13 million budget with five senior staff members. UH has operated a $16 million budget with one associate and two assistants. Frazier said he wants to restructure the department.
Frazier said while he has encouraged some people to apply and has been contacted by people interested in coming to UH, he has not offered anybody a job. He said UH will advertise any openings first.
