Law School to screen candidates for dean

A "first screening" deadline of Sept. 13 has been set for candidates for dean of the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.
Dean Lawrence Foster announced his resignation this year to resume a teaching position in the faculty, and a search committee was announced Thursday to find his successor.
Chair is Beadie Kanahele Dawson, chief executive officer of Dawson Group Inc. and chair of the Friends of the Law School board. She was also a spokesperson for Kamehameha Schools alumni unhappy with former trustees of the estate.
Committee members announced Thursday also include: Denise Antolini, assistant professor of law and faculty senate representative; Della Au Belatti, president of the Student Bar Association; John L. Barkai, law professor; Frank Boas, Friends of the Law School; Danielle M. Conway-Jones, assistant law professor; Michael Gibson, president, Hawai'i Bar Association; Chris Iijima, assistant law professor and director, pre-admission program; Barry Kurren, U.S. Magistrate Judge; Joy Kobashigawa Lewis, secretary, Outreach College and Clerical Council representative; Tara McKenzie, president/CEO Alu Like; Carolyn Oshiro, president, Law School Alumni Association and attorney; Jeffrey Portnoy, attorney; Lorna Ramiscal, educational specialist; Randall Roth, law professor; Laurie A. Tochiki, assistant dean for student affairs in School of Law; and Eric Yamamoto, law professor.
