Sign up now to Race for the Cure

Advertiser Staff

Applications for the eighth annual Susan G. Komen Hawai'i Race for the Cure — one of the fastest-growing foot races in Hawai'i — are now available.

The registration fee is $18 ($25 after Sept. 20), with discounts available for groups of five or more. Applications for the Sept. 29 event, which includes a 5K race and a 1-mile walk, are available through Hawaii Race Magazine and www.raceforthecurehawaii.org, or by phoning 973-5967.

Proceeds from the race will be used to aid breast cancer research projects. Last year, 5,200 people, the third-largest running field for a local race, raised $180,000.

Lawyer Cindy Goodness, who recently underwent a successful bone marrow transplant, will serve as "survivor" chairwoman. Indru Watumull, a noted community volunteer, is honorary chairwoman.
