BARBARA JEAN CANNON, 80, of Honolulu, died July 23, 2002. Born in Santa Maria, Calif. A U.S. Army nurse with the rank of lieutenant during World War II and member of the St. Augustine Altar and Rosary Society. Survived by husband, Frank; children, Janet O'Neill, Nancy Cannon, Linda Morrow and Patty Angulo and Tom Cannon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Brown; brother, Ed Shanahan. Memorial gathering held, followed by private scattering of ashes. No flowers. Memorial donations to the Hawaii Childrens' Cancer Foundation. Arrangements by Moanalua Mortuary.

AMBROSE A. WAI SUM CHUN, 79, died July 25, 2002. Born in Honolulu. Former art director and member of an advance team for Lockheed Missiles and Space, and an avid sports fisherman. Survived by wife, Cecelia; children, Alan and Denise; sisters, Lenora, Marian and Bea. Service 9 a.m. Tuesday at Nuuanu Mortuary. Entombment noon at Valley of the Temples.

ROSE "THE CAKE LADY" FAJARDO, 67, of Ha'iku, Maui, died July 25, 2002. Born in Olowalu. A warehouse forewoman at ARA Magazine Company. Survived by mother, Helen Kuoha; sons, James Hyde and Sheldon Fajardo; daughter, Rosalind Chin; brothers, Clarence Puha and Walter Puha; sister, Elizabeth Hoopii; nine grandchildren. Visitation 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kahului, Maui. Burial at Valley Isle Memorial Park Cemetery.

AUDREY GILROY, 88, of Makena, Maui, died July 21, 2002. Born in Toronto. A homemaker. Survived by husband, Wallace; son, Ross; daughter, Lynne; sister, Norma Pentecost; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Private family service held. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

EMMA LOU LYNCH, former president of the Hawai'i Federation of Garden Clubs, died July 3, 2002. Lecturer on flowers, provider of floral arrangements for the governor's mansion and member of the board of Ikebana International. Survived by son, William; daughter, Barbara Robertson; sister, Babe Hughes. Her ashes will be buried with her husband's at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. RAYMOND MANZANO, 89, of Wahiawa, died July 21, 2002. Born in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Retired owner of Raymond's Barber Shop, Wahiawa Shopping Center. Survived by wife, Trinidad "Irene"; daughters, LaVerne Maples Bishop and Joycelyn Manzano; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons. JANE MARIE LAUAE MEDEIROS, 69, of Oak Harbor, Wash., died July 22, 2002. Born in Honolulu. ROY SUNAO NAKAYAMA, 80, died July 20, 2002. Born in Makaweli, Kaua'i. An MPE mechanic retired from the U.S. Postal Service and member of Club 100 (Company B, 100th Infantry Battalion). Survived by wife, Jessie; sons, Neal, Dean, Gary and Paul; brother, Haruichi; sisters, Chieno and Mitsuko; two grandchildren. CATHERINE "PHILOMENA" CORREA PICO, 97, of Kahului, Maui, died July 22, 2002. Born in Hamakuapoko, Maui. A homemaker and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Survived by daughters, Irene Abreu, Priscilla Viveiros, Catherine Maeda and Mildred Tavares; sons, Donald Pico and Manuel Pico; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. MARTIN PETER STRASEN, 71, of Lahaina, Maui, died July 23, 2002. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., a management trainer retired from ADVO Systems. A Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. Survived by wife, Leann; sons, Derek, Paul and Marty; sisters, Ruth Franz, Elizabeth Droege, Charlotte Heidel and Catherine Fischer; four grandchildren. HOPE MERRALL VANDENBOS, 83, of San Mateo, Calif., died July 6, 2002. Born in Berkeley, Calif. Avid golfer at Oahu Country Club. Survived by children, Patricia "Patti" McGeehon and Heidi McMorrow; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Willard Merrall. Service held in California.

BETTY SUMI YAMADA, 88, of South Pasadena, Calif., died March 24, 2002. Born in Makaweli, Kaua'i. Survived by sons, Rodney and Clayton; daughter, Candace Arai; brother, Charles Watanabe; sister, Eleanor Kunimura; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter. JERRY K. "GOOCH" YAMAGUCHI, 65, of Honolulu, died July 26, 2002. Born in Makawao, Maui. Retired from the U.S. Air Force. JUNE JUNKO YAMASHITA, 72, of Honolulu, died July 24, 2002. Born in Puna, Hawai'i. A social worker retired from the state Department of Education. EDWARD MASATOSHI YASUHARA, 84, of Kea'au, Hawai'i, died July 14, 2002. Born in Hilo. A retired missionary who served in Osaka, Japan, under the sponsorship of Makiki Christian Church.
