Hilo police arrest suspect in woman's slaying

A 38-year-old Pepe'ekeo man is in the custody of Hilo police today as the suspect in the murder of a 27-year-old woman last night.

Detectives were working this morning to establish the cause of death of the woman, whose body was found on the floor of the suspect's home at about 10 p.m.

Police were called at 9 p.m. from a Hilo home where the suspect was staying. After talking with the suspect there, they were led to his home on Old Onomea Road, where they found the woman's body.

The suspect was arrested for murder and was being held at the Hilo cellblock this morning.
