Get Dad's aloha shirts appraised

Advertiser Staff

Nostalgic dads with a weakness for vintage aloha shirts might be persuaded to go shopping the day before Father's Day for Kahala Mall's "Aloha Dad" celebration.

Dads can have their aloha shirts appraised by antiques dealer David Bailey, have a book signed by Dale Hope, author of "The Aloha Shirt: Spirit of the Islands," or just browse the classic shirts on display.

The event is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15. It will feature performances by John Feary and Friends, as well as Kapena.

The mall is collecting donated aloha shirts for Goodwill Industries of Hawai'i.

Families also are invited to cast votes for the Aloha Shirt Coloring Contest that ends June 16.
