FUN HOUSE
Child eager to help keep fridge clean

One day, when my oldest daughter was about 4 years old, I was cleaning out the refrigerator. My daughter came up to me and asked why I was throwing food away.

I explained to her that if food is kept too long it gets spoiled, and you shouldn't eat it because you can get sick. She seemed happy with the answer and went along to play.

The next day I was sitting down reading a book when my daughter sat down and snuggled up to me. She looked up to me with her innocent eyes and, in a very serious voice, said, "Mommy, I better eat all the candy in the refrigerator before it gets too old."
