News ethics to be discussed

Gov. Ben Cayetano and a panel of television and newspaper journalists will explore "Ethics In Journalism" during a discussion moderated by attorney Jeff Portnoy on Thursday.

The public is invited to attend the 6:30 to 8 p.m. discussion at the 'Olelo Studios, 1122 Mapunapuna St.

Other panelists include University of Hawai'i journalism professor Gerald Kato, Advertiser Editor Saundra Keyes, Advertiser deputy city editor Ken Kobayashi, Honolulu Star-Bulletin editorial writer Cynthia Oi, KITV-TV news director Tod Pritchard, KHON-TV reporter Gregg Takayama and attorney Peter Olsen.

Sportsfest '02 fund-raiser set

In order to offset the imbalance between a decreasing state budget and an increasing need for uniforms, equipment and sports supplies, the Wai'anae High School athletic department will stage Sportsfest 2002 on June 22 and 23 at the school's Raymond Torii Football Field.

The two-day sportsfest and concert will feature classic cars, motorcycles, entertainment, a swap meet, wrestling tournament, craft booths, games, food, clowns and door prizes.

Tickets are $5; children 12 and under will be admitted free.
