The planned closure of the USS Arizona Memorial today through June 14 for maintenance has been postponed.

The work awaits the arrival of repair equipment and a possible modification to a dock repair plan, the National Park Service said.

The park service had planned on stopping launch trips to the memorial, but was going to keep the visitor center, bookstore and museum open.

Now, trips to the memorial will continue uninterrupted. The park service is advising the public to check the park's automated information line at 422-2771 for updated information.

The repairs are to include replacement of a railing and construction of a new ramp to improve access for visitors in wheelchairs.

Maintenance also was to be provided on Navy shuttle boats.
