More parking for 'Sunset'
The city has arranged for supplemental parking for today's Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki to accommodate the Pan-Pacific Matsuri Parade on Kalakaua Avenue from 5 to 7 p.m.
That parade will feature an Ushioni Float from Uwajima, Japan, as a token of the city's appreciation of Hawai'i's cooperation in last year's Ehime Maru tragedy.
Parking will be available at Jefferson Elementary School at 342 Kapahulu Ave., from 4 to 10 p.m., and at the Honolulu Zoo.
The city was not able to arrange supplemental parking at Ala Wai Elementary School, as was announced earlier.
The "Sunset" movie will be the comedy "Mrs. Doubtfire."
The event kicks off at 4 p.m. at Queen's Surf Beach with live entertainment and food, with the movie beginning at 7 p.m. on a 30-foot screen.
For details, call 523-2489 or the Waikiki Improvement Center at 923-1094.

Repaving tops meeting agenda

In a letter to Clifford Jamile, manager and chief engineer of BWS, the board said it had four concerns about the project including paving, the fill used on the project, topsoil replacement and replanting grass on the side of the road.
Other items before the board this week are traffic calming for Lulani Street, a Hui Iwa Street permit and water conservation and allocation.
