Motorcyclist killed in crash
A 23-year-old man was killed Saturday night in a motorcycle accident on North Nimitz Highway near the main gate for Hickam Air Force Base.
Police said that near 7 p.m., the 'Ewa Beach man came out the gate on a 2001 Yamaha Sports Bike and headed north on the highway.
Less than a half-mile north of the gate, he lost control on a curve and struck the concrete medial.
He was taken to Tripler Army Medical Center in critical condition and died there at 8:30 p.m.
Police said speed was a factor, and an investigation is under way.
Hiker injured in 100-foot fall
A 20-year-old hiker was in critical condition last night at The Queen's Medical Center after he fell about 100 feet from the top of Diamond Head crater.
Honolulu firefighters answered a 6:28 a.m. alarm to Diamond Head, where they found the injured hiker about halfway down the outside slope of the crater unable to move.
Firefighters from the department's Rescue 1 unit put the injured hiker on a backboard and airlifted him, using the department's rescue helicopter, to the crater floor.
Emergency medical personnel transported the injured hiker from the crater to the hospital.
Queen's officials declined to disclosed the hiker's name or his injuries.

Spear diver drowns on Maui
A 40-year-old Ha'iku man drowned yesterday in Ho'olawa Bay on Maui, police said.
The man, identified by police as Kevin "Hoku" Malaqui, had gone on a spear fishing trip with several friends.
About 1:10 p.m. one of the other divers found Malaqui, lifeless, on the ocean floor in 8 feet of water. He was wearing fins, snorkeling gear and a diving mask.
Malaqui was brought ashore and pronounced dead at Maui Memorial Medical Center at 5:20 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled, but police said yesterday that there was no evidence of foul play.
Kaua'i accident injures 2 teens
Two teenagers were hurt Friday night one of them critically in an auto accident on Kaua'i, police said.
A pickup truck driven by a boy without a license was heading west on Kaumuali'i Highway about 10 p.m. when it pulled over between mile markers 31 and 32 and made a U-turn, police said.
A boy and girl, both 16, were thrown from the truck and landed in the roadway.
The boy was in stable condition last night at KVMH-West Kaua'i Medical Center.
The girl was transported to The Queen's Medical Center, where she was in critical condition last night.
