Young inventors honored

Students from four O'ahu school districts participated in the 11th Annual HECO Invention Convention.

Winners are:

HPU senior gets scholarship

Sylvia Zhuang, a Honolulu resident and senior at Hawai'i Pacific University majoring in corporate communication, was recently awarded the Jesse Cheng Scholarship. Zhuang graduated from McKinley High School in 1998, is a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, the Lambda Pi Eta National Honor Society and the HPU International Chorale.


Graduate fellowship given

Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and largest all-discipline honor society, has awarded Nicole Jun Kajiyama of La'ie a graduate fellowship for the 2002-03 academic year. The award will enable her to pursue a graduate degree in law at Brigham Young University. She is among 52 students nationwide to receive the fellowship.


Student earns full scholarship

Wainani Dombrowski of Wai'anae, has been awarded an Averett University Trustee Scholarship. The Trustee Scholarship is the highest award given to an incoming freshmen and covers full tuition for four years.

The daughter of Hermann and Myra Dombrowski, she plans to attend Averett in the fall and major in equestrian studies/business administration. She is a senior at Moanalua High School.

Dombrowski has been recognized for her literary ability in the Language Arts Showcase
