KAWAIHAE, Hawai'i — Parents of a missing 16-year-old California girl yesterday issued a plea for information about their daughter.

Kimberly Brooke Ewing, 16, is about 5 feet 2 inches and 110 pounds. She disappeared Wednesday night.

Thomas Ewing is father of 16-year-old Kimberly — a high school sophomore from San Juan Capistrano. He said she has been missing since Wednesday night.

She has been spotted twice at the luxury Mauna Kea Beach Hotel but no one has talked with her. Tom Ewing said yesterday that no one has seen her since Friday.

Ewing said the girl has no money, telephone or clothing beyond what she was wearing. She came with his wife for a weeklong family vacation.

Police confirmed the missing person report but have not issued a public request for help. An all-points-bulletin was issued Saturday from Waimea.

The girl is 5 feet 2 inches and 110 pounds with long blond hair "and sparkling blue eyes," her dad said.

She was wearing a light colored top and denim shorts when last seen.

Police said the APB was sent to all of the island's eight police districts.

Police have not yet asked for public help, which they often do weeks after receiving the initial missing report.

A spokesman yesterday said there is no policy on when to make a public announcement. It is done on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the investigator, he said.

Four different South Kohala officers have worked the case since the girl was reported missing, a spokesman in Waimea said yesterday.

Tom Ewing asked that anyone with information call him at (949) 500-6093.
