Tonight's Must-See
"Life 360" season premiere, 8 p.m., PBS. TV news sometimes has a grab-and-go nature. Rushing to grab the obvious, some reports become one-dimensional. Now PBS and ABC News have linked for a broader perspective.
Each hour takes one subject then approaches it via films, interviews, music and (sometimes) comedy. Tonight's opener looks at monuments. It ranges from the Old West to the World Trade Center site, including a gorgeous closing song by Loudon Wainwright III.
ABC's Michel Martin is the host and provides a solid core.
The real highlight, however, is a sort of travel film by Ron Suskind. Suskind visits South Dakota, where monuments abound. One moment, he's viewing the stern permanence of Mount Rushmore, the next he's at the Corn Palace, which redoes its mural (made of corn) annually.
