Coast Guard offers sail class

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is conducting a sailing fundamentals class beginning June 19 at McKinley High School.

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for eight nights until July 15.

Classes are free with an available text for $35. Registration begins at 6 p.m. the first night.

HUNTING

• Classes set: The Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources is offering free hunter education classes throughout the summer.

Subjects covered include firearms and archery safety, survival and first-aid, wildlife identification and conservation, rules and regulations, game care and outdoor responsibility.

The next classes are July 19 (5:45 p.m.-10:15 p.m.) and July 20 (7:45 a.m.-4 p.m.) at Nimitz Business Center, 1130 N. Nimitz Highway, No. A-151.

Attendance is required for all sessions for certification. The classes are open to those 10 years old and older.

Other classes are being offered July 26-27, Aug. 9-10 and Aug. 23-24.

FUND-RAISER

• Equestrian benefit: A silent auction and horse show to benefit the equestrian Team Hawai'i Riders will be held June 29-30 at the Circle Z Ranch in Waimanalo.

The team is raising money to compete at the Southlands Summer Hunter/Jumper Classic in Vancouver, British Columbia, July 19-21.
