UH approaches two for athletic director job

Advertiser Staff

Athletic directors from Montana and Alabama-Birmingham have been among those approached by the University of Hawai'i search firm to consider the UH AD position.

Wayne Hogan, who has been at Montana for seven years, and Herman Frazier, AD at UAB for 20 months, said they had been contacted by Eastman & Beaudine, the UH-contracted search firm.

They said they did not know where they stood in the UH process.

A UH spokesman declined to confirm or deny whether the pair are currently in the running for the position which becomes available with the retirement of Hugh Yoshida.

"They wanted to know if they could test my waters and see if I was available," Frazier told the Birmingham (Ala.) News. "At this point, I told them I didn't know."

Both Hogan and Frazier were in Dallas over the weekend where a seven-member UH delegation interviewed several finalists. The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics' convention is also underway there.
