If the digital masters get their way, you'll be power-shopping at the pool and bidding on the beach this summer, never more than a beep away from Nordstrom or Wal-Mart. EBay and Microsoft's MSN rolled out new mobile shopping services last week.
EBay launched a $2.99-a-month service that lets people place bids in eBay auctions via messaging- or Web-enabled cell phones and other wireless gadgets. The system lets bidders get a beep or vibration (not a phone call) when they've been outbid. But now they can raise the ante by tapping out text messages.
