Tonight's Must-See

• "Married in America," 6 and 10 p.m., A&E. Michael Apted ("Coal Miner's Daughter") is a master filmmaker. He's also a gifted observer of the human condition. His wonderful documentaries — from "7 Up" to "42 Up" — have traced the same British kids every seven years. Now comes a similar approach to marriage. Apted met nine American couples before their weddings. He'll be back in two years to see how they're doing.

As in "7 Up" this is fascinating because of its variety. Scott, 29, and Amber, 23, met at a Florida-Auburn football game. They are pretty people who expect to make lots of money selling things. Their wedding was filled with Southern elegance. Chuck, 35, and Carol, 37, met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. She's been married twice before; he's been married three times and in prison twice. We soon find ourselves rooting for them.

Of Note

• "American Pie" (1999), 7 p.m., Fox. Here is another chance to see the comedy that made a fortune at the box office. Four teens are determined to lose their virginity before the prom.

• "Witchblade," 9 p.m., TNT. In the terrific season opener, Sara (Yancy Butler) remade her life after going back in time. Now her partner is alive. She also has slain the evil Kenneth Irons, but his protege vows revenge. Tonight, "Witchblade" settles into its weekly spot, including some regular police work. Sara and Woo learn that a crooked drug agent endangers McCartey, who is working undercover.

"Watergate: Legacy of Secrets," 7 and 10 p.m., Discovery Channel. Fresh interviews look back 30 years to the Watergate break-in.
