Campbell off-ramp closed after tractor overturns

Advertiser Staff

A tractor-trailer overturned along the H-1 Freeway Campbell Industrial Park off-ramp shortly before 1:30 p.m. today, forcing police and fire to shut down the off-ramp for hours to clean up leaking diesel fuel and transmission oil.

Crews hoped to reopen the off-ramp by 5 or 6 p.m.

The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. along the west-bound H-1 Campbell off-ramp.

Lt. David Talon of the Kapolei police station said the truck overturned while travelling along the wide turn of the off-ramp. The truck's driver was not hurt.

After uprighting the vehicle, crews placed absorbant material along the road surface to soak up the truck's fuel and oil.

Talon said the accident did not appear to affect afternoon rush-hour traffic since the accident occurred a distance from the freeway. Traffic heading to the Campbell Industrial Park was diverted to other off-ramps.
