Two men sought in Ala Wai shooting

Police are seeking two men in connection with an incident Sunday night in which one man was assaulted and another was shot in the leg.

The shooting victim told police he was returning from the men's room at Ala Wai Playground, 500 University Ave., at 11:15 p.m. when he saw one of his friends in an argument with a stranger who allegedly struck the friend with a stick.

A chase on a nearby bike path began, and a second man allegedly fired a shot, striking one of the men in his left thigh.

The gunman was described as 5 feet, 8 inches and 180 pounds, with short dark hair. The other attacker was described as 5 feet 6, 140 pounds and wearing a maroon shirt and blue jeans.

Wahiawa man aims rifle at police

A 42-year-old Wahiawa Heights man was arrested Sunday night after pointing a loaded rifle at a police officer who was investigating a complaint that he had threatened family members with the same weapon.

Police were called after an 8:30 p.m. incident at a Pu'u Place home in which the suspect allegedly pointed a pellet gun at his sister and fired a pellet into a nearby wall. He then allegedly threatened his sister and mother with machetes and a .22-caliber rifle.

The suspect returned to his bedroom, where he allegedly threatened the officer who responded to the family's call to police. Police said glass pipes and a substance resembling crystal methamphetamine were recovered from his room.

Suspect drives car at police officer

An attempted murder case was opened after a 19-year-old man leaving the scene of a Nanakuli domestic assault on Saturday allegedly drove a car at a police officer.

The suspect's 19-year-old girlfriend told police who arrived at 87-182 Helelua St. at 12:20 a.m. that she had been assaulted.

The suspect, leaving the residence in his car, reversed the car into a parking lot, police said. When the officer ordered him out of the car, the suspect allegedly drove directly at the officer, who said he had to jump behind his own car to escape injury.
