Big Island plans tsunami drill

HILO, Hawai'i Officials from state and county agencies will conduct a two-hour tsunami preparation exercise from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. today along the Kona coast.
Civil Defense Administrator Bill Davis said the public should not be affected by the drill, which is meant to familiarize new employees with emergency procedures.
The exercise will involve installing barricades and Civil Defense warning flags at some intersections.
Participating in the drill will be the state Highways Division and county police, fire, public works, parks and Civil Defense officials.
