Hoku Scientific finds support

Hoku Scientific Inc. has received $1 million from investors, including Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. and former Bank of Hawaii chairman Lawrence Johnson.
The company said the money will be used to support its ongoing hydrogen fuel-cell development efforts, as well as general business growth.
"Supporting a local fuel- cell venture with great potential is an important component of our overall corporate strategy," said Robert F. Clarke, HEI chairman, president and chief executive officer.
