CHERYL WONG has been named assistant controller for the 225,000-acre Big Island Parker Ranch. The 17-year veteran of accounting, finance and business management has worked for certified public accounting firms and held management positions in agribusiness and publishing.

MARJORIE KUBOTA has been named manager of the Musashi restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort. She is former restaurant manager at the Momoyama Japanese Restaurant and Pikake Terrace.

GEORGE FILLION, a former Wells Fargo regional trust manager in Colorado, has been promoted by Bank of Hawaii to executive vice president and manager of the trust and private banking division. He will be responsible for the bank's domestic and international private banking, personal trust, retirement services, fiduciary operations, and real estate investment and servicing activities. Fillion was formerly senior vice president and fiduciary risk officer at the bank.

RICHARD A. COONS, retired partner-in-charge of Touche Ross of Honolulu and its successor firm Deloitte & Touche from 1974 to 1995, has been named an honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

RONALD K. MIGITA, vice chairman and chief executive officer of City Bank, has been installed as president of the Hawai'i Bankers Association. Other association officers include vice president, WARREN K.K. LUKE, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hawai'i National Bank, and secretary-treasurer, CONSTANCE H. LAU, president and chief executive officer of American Savings Bank. Also, as association director, RODNEY R. SHINKAWA was elected executive vice president.

KEVEN MATSUURA, general manager of Mutual Publishing, was elected president of the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association. Other officers: first vice president, CYRUS ROBINSON, manager of the Kaimuki branch of Territorial Savings & Loan; second vice president, PHILIP KEAT, manager of the Kaimuki branch of First Hawaiian Bank; third vice president, attorney ERIC WONG; secretary, DAVID CHINAKA, of Chinaka, Siu & Co. CPAs; and treasurer, CHRIS YUEN, of Ohata Chun Yuen CPAs.

PAUL TONER will return to the Islands after three years in Hong Kong as Marriott International's area director of marketing for Asia, this time with appointment as area director of marketing for the Pacific Islands. His responsibility includes marketing, sales, advertising and public relations for properties in Hawai'i and Guam, including resorts at 'Ihilani, Waikiki, Kaua'i, Maui, and Tumon Bay, Guam. Before his Asia appointment, Toner was director of marketing for the Kaua'i Marriott Resort and Beach club.

RICK HUMPHREYS JR. has joined locally owned Monarch Insurance Services Inc. as assistant vice president. He will be responsible for managing business-risk commercial clients for the specialists in commercial, casualty and property insurance.

ROBERT E. GLASGOW, a consultant to Hawaiian Airlines who helped develop the airline's new operations control center, has been hired as vice president for flight operations. Glasgow has more than 30 years of service at Delta, Western and Continental airlines.

LUANA MAITLAND, a 20-year veteran of travel industry management, sales, and customer service with Colony Hotels and Resorts and tour wholesaler Classic Hawai'i, has been named senior sales manager for the 872-room Outrigger Reef on the Beach. She is the president of Travel Women Hawai'i.

JIM HEATHER has been named general manager of the Big Island Outrigger-managed resort condominium Kanaloa at Kona. He has also worked for the Hilton, Marriott and Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza hotel chains.

JOSEPHINE STENBERG was appointed director of financial aid at Hawai'i Pacific University. She was most recently the department's assistant director.

• First Hawaiian Bank has announced a number of officer promotions: STEPHEN M. FRANKLIN, to vice president and manager, institutional funds management department; GARY G. MAESHIRO, vice president and manager, trust employee benefits department; and MARK M. YOSHIDA, vice president and senior administrative officer, trust operations department. GREGORY R. LAMBERT has been appointed vice president, trust operations department.
