Tonight's Must-See

"Son of the Beach," 6 p.m., FX. Let's count this comedy as one of the guilty pleasures of summer TV. It's a loose takeoff of "Baywatch." There are lots of jokes — most of them delivered by attractive people in swimwear.

"P.O.V.: The Smith Family" season-opener, 10 p.m., PBS. In a gentle, nonjudgmental way, film-maker Tasha Oldham has captured an amazing story. Steve Smith is a devout Mormon who had affairs with men. As he died of AIDS, his family stuck by him.

Of Note

"Scrubs," 7:30 p.m., NBC. This above-average series offers five straight reruns.
