Third suspect held in Waikiki robbery

Police arrested the remaining suspect in the armed robbery of a Japanese tourist in his Waikiki hotel room April 22.

Tucker Dee Chapman, 18, of no local address, was arrested at 10:40 p.m Friday near Kapi'olani Boulevard and Sheridan Street. He was charged and is being held on $100,000 bail.

Co-defendants Jolene Mattos and David Faleafine were charged earlier.

The robbery was reported at 12:02 a.m. at the Honolulu Prince Hotel, 415 Nahua Ave. Detectives said the tourist, 38, heard a knock and opened the door to find Mattos, whom he had met earlier.

Faleafine and Chapman forced their way in, police said. The three allegedly held a gun to the victim's head and bound him with duct tape before fleeing with his belongings .

Hotel security caught Mattos, police said, and the two men were found during the investigation.


Man shot by police still in hospital

The Kailua man shot by police after he allegedly smashed officers' vehicles with a pipe remained in guarded condition yesterday at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.

Kailua police responded to a report at 2 a.m. Saturday that someone was on a rampage at his home on Kalolina Street. They said the suspect smashed both officers' cars, spearing the pipe through the window of one.

An officer fired two shots, hitting the man in the stomach, police said.


Teen charged with driving at officer

A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted assault after he drove his car at a police officer responding to a domestic abuse case on June 15.

Lopaka L. Selby-Oglesby, of no local address, was about to drive away when police arrived at a parking lot at 87-182 Helelua St. in Nanakuli at 12:20 a.m.

His 19-year-old girlfriend told officers she had been assaulted. When officers approached, Selby-Oglesby put the car into reverse and drove at an officer, who jumped out of the way, police said.

Selby-Oglesby was arrested Saturday in Wahiawa and charged with second-degree assault. He is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
