Sacramento St. signs Roosevelt pitcher Mols

Left-hander Chris Mols, part of the pitching combination that took Roosevelt to the O'ahu Interscholastic Association East baseball championship last season, signed with Sacramento State.
Mols, who was chosen OIA East co-Player of the Year and second-team all-state, said, "It's a big opportunity to go away and get experience." Mols signed Sunday at his Palolo home.
Earlier, SacState coach John Smith signed power-hitting outfielder Jimmy Strombach of Moanalua and pitcher/first baseman Shannon Kahale of Kamehameha.
Other signings and commitments:
Aviv Grill of Punahou, last fall's boys water polo Player of the Year in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, will play at Southern California.
Nani Momoa (Nanakuli '00) graduated with honors from Taft (Calif.) JC and will play basketball next season at Cal State-Monterey, providing she earns a few credits this summer.
Corey Higa, second-team all-state outfielder for Roosevelt, will play and study at Penn.
Roosevelt baseball player Brandon Loo will attend Menlo (Calif.)
Kahuku girls basketball players Mereani Lewenilovo and Charlotte Leitupo will play at Lassen (JC) in Susanville, Calif. Coach Mark Nareau notes that he sent Dayna Gambill (Honoka'a '97) on to a full ride at UNLV three years ago.
Left-handed pitcher Kaleo Lopez (Kapa'a '00), who was 8-3 for regional runner-up Saddleback (Calif.) JC last season, will move about 20 miles west to NAIA Vanguard University (formerly Southern California College) in Costa Mesa.
