Hawai'i Baptist graduate Erin Masuda and St. Anthony graduate Chaz Inouye have received the 2002 Golf Media Association of Hawai'i Monte Ito and Bill Gee scholarships.

The $1,500 grants honor the memories of sportswriters Monte Ito (Honolulu Advertiser) and Bill Gee (Honolulu Star-Bulletin). They recognize "outstanding achievements and/or potential in journalism and a sincere appreciation of golf."

Masuda, news editor for HBA's Eagle Eye and senior class vice president, had a cumulative grade point average of 3.935. She played three years of varsity golf and was Most Inspirational as a freshman and ILH honorable mention as a sophomore. She will attend the University of Washington.

Inouye, who has a 3.93 GPA, plans to study communications at Loyola Marymount.

He qualified for Junior World eight times, traveled to the Japan World Cup and placed sixth at the 2000 Hawai'i high school championship.

Previous GMAH scholarships were won by Natalie Nakamura and Evan Yamada (2000) and Merynn Ito and Ryan DeBusk (2001).
