My son Micah, 3, is struggling to understand figures of speech, and he sometimes gets the meanings of words garbled, with funny results.
Recently his grandmother called him the "apple of her eye." Micah just smiled.
But after she left the room, Micah whispered to me, "Mom, I'm not an apple. I think Grandma has her food groups mixed up."
