BYUH tops Chaminade in PacWest

Alexus Foyle scored 25 points and Brian Skinner added 20, leading Brigham Young-Hawai'i over Chaminade, 86-82, last night in a Pacific West Conference game at McCabe Gym.

The Seasiders improved to 19-9 overall and 10-5 in conference, tied with Montana State-Billings. But Montana State-Billings which beat BYUH, won the tie-breaker to clinch the title and earn the conference's lone berth into a NCAA Divison II regional tournament.

The Silverswords fell to 16-11 and 8-7.

Keli'i Naihe added 12 points and Tyree Gardner 11 for BYUH, which beat Chaminade 91-78 on Friday night.

The Seasiders made 9-of-17 3-pointers with Skinner draining six in 10 attempts.

Jaborri Thomas led the Silverswords with 19 points. Igor Beljanski added 15, Kashif 14, Albert Powell 13 and Leon Ballard 10 .

• Hawai'i Pacific 97, UH-Hilo 69: John Avilla scored 21 points and Jeff Jensen and Nick Subotic added 16 each, powering the Sea Warriors over the Vulcans last night at Afook-Chinen Civic in Hilo.

HPU improved to 18-8 overall and 9-6 in the PacWest. UH-Hilo fell to 18-9 and 8-7.

Alvin Stephenson added 14 and Nash Spajic 12 for HPU, which led 59-29 at halftime and were never threatened thereafter.

The Sea Warriors made 12 of 23 3-pointers. Jensen hit all four of his attempts, while Avilla made three in six attempts.

Scott Prather scored 17 and David LaQua 15 for Hilo.

On Friday, UH-Hilo beat HPU, 78-72, ending the Sea Warriors shot at the conference title.
