• Ben Carroll was re-elected 2002 president of the Mental Health Association in Hawai'i's board of directors recently.

Also elected were: Mary Protheroe, vice president, resources development; Sharon Yokote, vice president, programs; David Ridley, vice president, Hawai'i County; Anela Patterson, vice president, Kaua'i County; Kats Enoki, vice president, Maui County; Susan Cooper, secretary; Wally Inglis, treasurer; and Debbie Rivers, past president.

New board members are: Eve DeCoursey, Rita Gorospe, Bill Kaneko and David Ridley.

Continuing board members are: Jean Adair-Leland, Kuhio Sam, Bud Bowles, Puanani Burgess, Wally Fukunaga, Bill Howes, John Marsh and Dennis Park.

• The Democratic Party of Hawai'i Women's Caucus recently honored women healthcare leaders and two Native Hawaiian organizations. They are:

Virginia Pressler, deputy director for health resources administration, State Department of Health; Louise Iwaishi, director of the Division of Community Pediatrics, University of Hawai'i; Terri Imada, coordinator, Cancer Screening and Education Program, St. Francis Medical Center; Papa Ola Lokahi, a nonprofit organization, and Ke Alaula, a group of Native Hawaiian community leaders from all islands, both of which advocate improved Native Hawaiian healthcare.

• The Collection Law Section of the Hawai'i State Bar Association has elected its officers and directors. They are:

Officers are: Marvin Dang, chair; Steve Guttman, vice chair; Carla Poirier, secretary; David Farmer, treasurer. Directors are: Marvin Dang; also David Farmer, William Plum, Carla Poirier and Thomas Wong. Also Michael Daniels, Guttman, Jonathan Lai, Jeffrey Lau, Remy Luria and David Monroy.

• The Palolo Chinese Home Women's Auxiliary has installed new officers. They are: Gwen Chong, president; Annina Doo, vice president; Gladys Evenson, recording secretary; Helen La, corresponding secretary; Gladys Lee, treasurer; Mary Ruth Chun, auditor; Beatrice Chun, historian; and Gertrude Yee, nominating chair.

• Newly elected members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu's board of directors are:

Glenn Inouye, chair; Nita Williams, chair elect; Jan Kuromoto, treasurer; Bonnie Freitas, secretary; Sharon Otagaki, program services chair; Neal Yokota, public relations/recruitment chair; and Tim Ho, past chair.

New directors are: Richard Lau, Debra Yoshino and Stephanie Tom.

Returning directors are: chef Sam Choy, John Fink, Wes Fujimoto, Stephanie Gonsalves, Russell Gifford, James Lee, Eric Miyasaki, Karen Robertshaw, Gary Lee, Chuck McCrary, Michael Murakoshi, Brian Nakashima, Gordon Smith, Sheila Sumida, Henry Sumida and Patricia Tam.

• The American Business Women's Association, 'Onipa'a Chapter, has selected officers for the year. They are: Kathy Lau, president; Josephine Segovia, vice president; Dee Conquest, secretary; Lila Marantz, corresponding secretary; and Fay Yamura, treasurer.
