Basketball 'Bows give us season to remember

What a season Riley Wallace and his University of Hawai'i men's basketball team have brought us.

No. 1 seed in the WAC Tourney. Predrag Savovic named to the all-WAC first team for the second year. Carl English named to the second team.

And Wallace has most deservedly been named Don Haskins Coach of the Year.

It truly has been a magical season for the Rainbow Warriors even if they haven't gotten the national recognition they deserve. But that by no means dims their accomplishments on the basketball court.

Congratulations to Coach Wallace. You preached teamwork, patience and defense, and it paid off. Congratulations to the team, which showed talent, skill and true grit when needed.

We hope an invitation to the Big Dance is in your future, but even if that NCAA Tournament bid doesn't come your way, you've made the whole state proud. Go 'Bows!
