Man accused of pulling gunA Honolulu man was arrested yesterday after he hunted down his ex-girlfriend at a Waikiki hotel and allegedly threatened her and a hotel security guard with a gun.
The suspect, 24, came to the Royal Garden at Waikiki, 440 Olohana St., at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday and argued with his ex-girlfriend and a hotel security guard. He pulled a loaded 9-mm handgun from his waistband and displayed it to them, police said.
He fled the hotel but then returned while police were investigating and was arrested. Police are pursuing charges of first-degree terroristic threatening and a firearms violation.
Man arrested for stabbing
A man who allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend with a knife while she slept next to their young daughter was arrested last night in 'Ewa Beach.
The assault was reported after 3 a.m. Saturday, when the suspect, 30, allegedly walked into the ex-girlfriend's home in Kuli'ou'ou. The rear door to the Dalene Way home was unlocked. The couple had split in February and the suspect had been ejected from the home, police said.
He held a pillow over her face while she slept next to their 7-year-old daughter and cut the 36-year-old woman's face with a steak knife. The child awoke and screamed, "Daddy, what are you doing?" and the mother was able to take the knife away, police said.
The woman threatened to call police unless he left; when he left, she reportedly called police from a friend's house.
Police are pursuing first-degree burglary and second-degree assault charges against the man.
Makiki woman sexually assualted
A 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted late Monday by a man who accosted her as she was entering her Makiki apartment.
The woman told police she was at the apartment door at 11 p.m. when a man in his late 20s pushed her into the bedroom and sexually assaulted her. Police, who did not disclose the street location of the apartment, have opened a sexual assault, burglary and kidnapping investigation.
Women arrested in auto break-in
An auto break-in in Kaka'ako last night escalated into a brawl in which a 23-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a knife.
A witness called 911 at about 7:30 last night when he saw a 37-year-old woman seated in a car, looking around. While he was on the phone the younger woman confronted him with a large knife.
The car owner, a 30-year-old man, brought in two friends and confronted the older woman, now in her own car with the younger suspect, police said. He began to throw things at the suspects' car, damaging the windows.
The younger woman got out, with her knife, and challenged the men to a fight. When they retreated, the woman started to chase them, police said. The women were arrested for the auto break-in and four counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
Broken crossbar causes outage
A broken utility-pole crossbar caused a short circuit at 4:20 a.m. today that cut power to about 1,500 Hawaiian Electric Co. customers in Kalihi.
