Author adds appeal to Hawai'i Public TV drive

By Wayne Harada

Pssssst. Wanna know about success and inner peace and how to find both in these stressful times?

Hawai'i Public Television may have the answer: Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Dyer, author of such best sellers as "Your Erroneous Zones," "101 Ways to Transform Your Life and Your Sacred Self," "Awakening: A Journal of Transformation" and "Pulling Your Own Strings," will appear live as part of Hawaii Public TV's March membership drive, through March 17. He will cap the local campaign with an in-studio appearance at 7 p.m. March 17, after which a special on his often witty, often upbeat ways of finding inner peace will be aired.

"We are very fortunate to have such a distinguished author volunteer to be a part of our membership drive," said Becky Dunning, HPTV's vice president of development. "Dr. Dyer has been lending a hand at PBS (Public Broadcasting System) stations across the country and sharing some of his advice and experiences along the way."

There are also the expected entertainment spectacles — from vintage Elvis documentaries and the rock of The Who to a nostalgic revival of concerts by Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, which envelope the on-air pleas for viewer support.

Other audience attractors include "Cats," the blockbuster musical, and "Rock, Rhythm & Doo Wop," with a clutch of doo wop legends.
