Tonight's Must-See

"The Job," 8:30 p.m., ABC. Ever since this witty show premiered, police detective Mike McNeil (Denis Leary) has walked an emotional tightrope. His mistress Toni (Karyn Parsons) knows he's married. His wife Karen (Wendy Makkena) doesn't know about the affair. Now it's time for McNeil's wobbly world to implode: Toni forces him to have dinner with her parents. Soon, he's lying often and badly. Meanwhile, Jan (Diane Farr) thinks she's finally broken her string of bad relationships. And Tommy (Adam Ferrara) meets a foul-mouthed prisoner who reminds him of dear old Mom. That adds up to a typical episode of this perversely funny show.
