Jellyfish invasion closes Hanauma

The monthly invasion of box jellyfish prompted the closure today of Hanauma Bay and lifeguards to warn swimmers along Waikiki and at Ala Moana Beach.

The influx of jellyfish was higher than usual, with about 300 of the stinging creatures found at the Kapahulu Groin in Waikiki, lifeguards said.
