A 25-year-old Kailua man was arrested last night after a fight escalated into a stabbing near the intersection of Kihapai Street and Ho'opuni Drive in Kailua.

Police said the fight was reported about 10:40 p.m., when the suspect pulled a knife and started chasing the victim, a 20-year-old Kailua man.

The victim fell or was dragged to the ground, when the suspect stabbed him in the arm. The suspect fled but returned to the scene, where he was arrested.

A second-degree assault charge is pending further investigation.

Road incident leads to arrest

A truck driver was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder after police said he intentionally bumped a motorcyclist trying to pass him in 'Ewa Beach.

The victim, 40, was heading south on Fort Weaver Road at 9:20 a.m. yesterday and was trying to pass a pickup truck when the truck driver swerved into his path and collided with him, police said.

The cyclist managed to right himself but the suspect swerved again for a second collision that knocked the motorcycle down.

The cyclist was taken by ambulance to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition. Firefighters said the rider was wearing a helmet.

Suspect in robbery held

Police arrested a 30-year-old man yesterday after he robbed an acquaintance on Waipahu Street.

The victim, 35, was walking toward a store at 1141 Waipahu St. when the suspect confronted him, punched him twice and took his money.

The victim went home and called police, and patrol officers found the robber near the scene.

The suspect was released at noon yesterday; second-degree robbery charges are pending.

Suspect in assault sought

Police are seeking a man in his late 20s in connection with a sexual assault late Monday in Makiki.

The man followed a 23-year-old woman into her secured apartment building on the 1600 block of Kewalo Street while she was carrying her laundry about 11 p.m., police said.

When the victim opened her front door, the man pushed her into her apartment and into her bedroom, where he sexually assaulted her. He then fled the area on foot.

The man also is described as 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds with a medium build. He has short brown hair and is clean-shaven, with brown eyes and a medium complexion.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved pullover sweatshirt and blue jeans, and had a silver ball earring in his left ear.
