Sewage overflows at Ke'ehi Lagoon
A possible break in a pressurized sewer line yesterday caused untreated sewage to overflow at a pump station at Ke'ehi Lagoon, the city said.
Officials with the Department of Environmental Services last night said they did not know how much sewage overflowed, but called the spill "substantial." The officials said the sewage possibly flowed into Ke'ehi Lagoon and warning signs were posted around the area.
City crews last night diverted the overflow to the Sand Island Treatment facility. More than 14 pumper trucks converged to Ke'ehi Lagoon to intercept the overflow.
Road incident leads to arrest
A truck driver was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder after police said he intentionally bumped a motorcyclist trying to pass him in 'Ewa Beach.
The victim, 40, was heading south on Fort Weaver Road at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday and was trying to pass a pickup when the truck driver swerved into his path and collided with him, police said.
The cyclist managed to right himself but the suspect swerved again for a second collision that knocked the motorcycle down.
The cyclist was taken by ambulance to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition. Firefighters said the rider was wearing a helmet.
