'Bows overpower Tulsa, head for NCAA

Predrag Savovic scored 28 points to help history-making Hawai‘i beat Tulsa, 73-59, for its second consecutive Western Athletic Conference Tournament title today in Tulsa, Okla.

It was the first time in school history that UH has won consecutive WAC Tournament titles and qualified for consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

It also was the third time that the Rainbow Warriors (27-5) defeated Tulsa (26-6).

The game was tied at 29 at halftime but UH pulled away scoring the first eight points of the second half.

Carl English had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Phil Martin added 13 points and nine rebounds for Hawai‘i. Jason Parker and Antonio Reed scored 18 each for Tulsa.

Tulsa shot 2-for-12 in the opening 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Savovic scored eight points as Hawaii built a 49-33 lead.

The Rainbow Warriors beat Tulsa 78-72 in overtime last year to win the conference tournament and send Tulsa to the NIT.
