Advertiser receives Page 1 design award

The Honolulu Advertiser received an award of excellence for front-page design at the Society for News Design's 23rd annual "Best of Newspaper Design" competition.
In design competition results announced this week, awards went to 942 winners from a field of 12,727 entries. The Advertiser competed against newspapers with a daily circulation of 50,000 to 174,999.
The competition, co-sponsored by SND and Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, recognizes excellence in newspaper design, graphics and photography.
The judging took place over two weekends in early February at the Newhouse School in Syracuse, N.Y.
